Questions, answered plainly.
The things people most often ask before working with us. If yours isn't here, ask us directly — a straight answer costs nothing.
What is the difference between self assessment and corporation tax?
Self assessment is for individuals — sole traders, freelancers, landlords, and anyone with untaxed income. Corporation tax is for limited companies and is filed via a CT600 return. Many of our clients need both: a personal return for themselves and a CT600 for their company.
What services does AT Crew provide?
Payroll processing, self assessment returns, corporation tax planning, VAT filing, capital gains tax reporting, inheritance tax planning, company formation, SPV setup, and Companies House ID verification — each managed by a qualified accountant.
Does AT Crew handle VAT returns?
Yes. AT Crew manages VAT registration, quarterly calculations, and filing in full compliance with Making Tax Digital requirements — and advises on which VAT scheme actually suits your margins.
Can AT Crew help with company formation?
Yes. AT Crew handles company formation and registration with Companies House, including entity type selection, legal structuring, director ID verification, and initial tax and payroll registrations — so the business launches on a foundation that never needs correcting later.
How do your fees work?
Fees are agreed before work begins, so you have a fixed picture of the cost up front — no surprise invoices. The first consultation is free and carries no obligation.
I already have an accountant. Is switching complicated?
No — it is mostly handled between the accountants. With your permission we write to your current accountant for professional clearance and your records, and we tell you if there is anything you need to do. Most switches involve one email from you.
Which deadlines should I actually worry about?
The big ones: 31 January (online self assessment and balancing payment), 31 October (paper returns), 5 April (tax year end), VAT one month and seven days after each quarter, and corporation tax nine months and one day after your company year end. See the full picture on our tax year at a glance — and as a client, you will hear from us weeks before each one applies to you.
